A dying accountant's chaotic final week ends in ironic death and absurd divine judgment.
Fantozzi survives a cemetery accident without serious consequences. At a subsequent doctor's checkup, he is told he has only one week left to live. The fatal misdiagnosis sets his chaotic final days in motion.
Fantozzi indulges in every risky activity he once avoided, chasing adrenaline and adventure. The thrill does not last, and he falls into deep depression. His daughter Mariangela and her husband Bongo squat the family house, compounding his despair.
Pina takes pity on Fantozzi and secretly pays Miss Silvani to simulate capitulation to his courtship. A fake quarrel kicks Fantozzi out of the garage home, and the paid love escape to Cortina begins. After an initial failure, a barman's aphrodisiac concoction fuels an explosive night that makes Silvani truly fall in love.
Fantozzi plans to send Pina an insulting divorce letter but discovers by chance that her care and sacrifice made Silvani capitulate. He returns home to Rome and devotes his last hours to exaggerated acts of penitence. He climbs church stairs on his knees with a crown of thorns and a comically big boulder.
Pina reaches Fantozzi with the good news that the diagnosis was wrong and meant for the priest. In his euphoria, Fantozzi is run over by a truck and crushed by a road roller. His ironic funeral is followed by a hijacked divine airplane and Buddha's wheel-of-fortune judgment condemning him to relive his life.
