Story Structure — 5 Plot Phases

Academy Threat and Church Refuge

The season begins with military danger and a flight toward the church. The church then becomes a temporary refuge and a new social environment.

Calm Before the Storm

Daily church life briefly softens the tension, but questions of departure and reunion expose emotional instability. Labrador's warning signals that the peaceful interval will not last.

Possession and Atonement

Possession, violence, and a mysterious murder broaden the supernatural threat. The emotional center shifts toward grief, guilt, and the need for atonement.

Judgment and Hidden History

The attack on Castor leads to investigation and institutional judgment against Frau. Information about Frau's childhood turns the legal threat into a personal and historical crisis.

Examination and Summoning

Direct contact with Ayanami is followed by escape, military pursuit, and demanding church examinations. The season closes with the sacred eye summoning a group of church allies for the next escalation.
