Plot Progression

1. Orders at Fort Clark — Major Brady arrives in Texas to suppress the Kiowa uprising. His proposal for fast-moving units conflicts with the fort command's preference for massed troops.
2. The Seminole Counterattack — Brady recruits Maygro through promises of money, food, and land. Together they arm and train Seminoles, whose ambush successfully challenges the Kiowa.
3. The Sabre Revelation — Brady discovers evidence that Elaine's supposedly dead husband is alive among the Kiowa. This revelation turns the military campaign into a personal mystery.
