Story Analysis

An anthropologist's research into a supernatural legend draws her into a revenge-driven threat that endangers those around her.

Plot Progression

1. The Vow and the Legend — A supernatural betrayal leads to a promise of revenge after a hundred years. In the present, an anthropologist researches the South Sea Queen and the sunken castle.
2. Warnings at the Sea — The anthropologist presses on with her thesis despite an old scholar's warning. She heads toward dangerous waters, where the local guide refuses to take her.
3. Murders and the Heirloom — A mysterious woman begins killing people, including Maryann, while police struggle to understand the crimes. The antique kris and necklace become connected to the danger surrounding the anthropologist...
4. Masabu's Warning and Loss — Grand Uncle Masabu identifies the necklace as a means of tracking the anthropologist. He is killed while trying to help, and she flees with a detective amid their grief.
5. Flight to the Airport — The police seek help from the States while the survivors try to regroup. A message sends the pair to an abandoned airport, where the attacker appears again and forces them to take cover.
