Story Analysis

An undercover bomb-disposal officer faces a returning gang leader whose tunnel siege forces a desperate confrontation and a fatal final gamble.

Plot Progression

1. The Undercover Infiltration — Cheung works undercover in Peng's bomb-making gang and helps police arrest several of its members. Peng escapes, leaving Cheung with a continuing threat.
2. A Fragile Return to Normal — Cheung returns to EOD, is promoted, and begins dating Carmen. A year later, Chow's death in a car bombing renews Cheung's suspicion of Peng.
3. Bombs Before the Siege — Cheung disarms a bomb outside the Revenue Tower and disposes of another explosive device with Kong's help. Peng's attack then expands into a takeover of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel.
4. Hostages Under Threat — Peng holds civilians in the tunnel and demands Cheung secure his brother's release. Carmen is also captured and rescued, while Peng's bomb kills Wong.
