Plot Progression

2. Warnings Beneath Sleep — Nighttime noises cause Sarah severe sleep deprivation and interfere with her design-course plans. Lisa comforts her, while Lester quietly introduces the book that represents the community's ideology.
3. The Sealed Community — Brian and other residents drug Sarah and imprison her. Jerry reveals that the complex is a cult and that outside contact has been eliminated.
4. Belonging Through Coercion — Sarah endures the cult's initiation and is assigned duties, marriage, surveillance, and domestic labor. The cult gradually conditions her to accept its promises of belonging and purpose.
