Parker Barnes (played by Denzel Washington) is a protagonist in Virtuosity. Former LAPD officer imprisoned for killing terrorist Matthew Grimes. He volunteers for a VR training program, gets offered a pardon deal to hunt the escaped AI serial killer SID 6.7, and works alongside criminal psychologist Madison Carter. Despite being framed and imprisoned again, he ultimately confronts SID in virtual reality, destroys the AI, and rescues Carter's kidnapped daughter. Sid 6.7 (played by Russell Crowe) is a protagonist in Virtuosity. A highly dangerous virtual reality program compiled from historical serial killers. After bypassing safety protocols and causing a trainee's death, SID 6.7 is illegally transferred into an android body. He escapes into Los Angeles, goes on a violent killing spree, and kidnaps Madison Carter's daughter before being tricked back into a VR simulation and destroyed by Barnes. Madison Carter (played by Kelly Lynch) appears in Virtuosity. A criminal psychologist who meets Barnes in prison. She assists in the investigation, discovers the terrorist Matthew Grimes is embedded in SID's code, and helps track the AI. After her daughter is kidnapped, she captures Lindenmeyer, kills him to save Barnes from a fatal shock, and partners with Barnes to finally destroy the SID 6.7 module and rescue her daughter. Karin (played by Kaley Cuoco) appears in Virtuosity. William Cochran (played by William Forsythe) appears in Virtuosity. LAPD Chief who offers Barnes a pardon deal to capture SID 6.7 in exchange for his freedom. After Carter proves Barnes's innocence regarding a hostage incident, Cochran destroys the fail-safe transmitter intended to kill Barnes. He is subsequently murdered by Lindenmeyer before he can release Barnes. Matthew Grimes (played by Christopher Murray) appears in Virtuosity. Lindenmeyer (played by Stephen Spinella) appears in Virtuosity. Lead programmer responsible for creating SID 6.7. Ordered to shut down the project after a trainee dies, he instead manipulates a colleague to bring the AI into the real world by swapping it into an android body. He later reappears to observe SID's rampage, kills Cochran, and is ultimately shot by Carter. Elizabeth Deane (played by Louise Fletcher) appears in Virtuosity. A police commissioner who witnesses the order to shut down the SID project. She collaborates with Chief Cochran to propose the pardon deal to Barnes. Later, she and Wallace attempt to execute Barnes via a body-implanted fail-safe transmitter until the system is destroyed.
