Plot Progression

1. The Village Secret — Liu lives quietly in a Yunnan village until two robbers provoke a fight. His apparent accidental victory attracts Xu's suspicion and begins the investigation.
2. Anatomy Of Deception — Xu examines the robber's death and recognizes that Liu's explanation is impossible. The investigation exposes Liu's concealed martial skill and his former membership in the 72 Demons.
3. The Past Returns — An arrest warrant is issued, but the corrupt Magistrate gives Liu's location to the Master. The Master reveals his fatherhood and sends forces to reclaim Liu.
4. Breaking The Blood Tie — Liu protects the village while Xu devises a false-death plan. When the deception fails, Liu severs his left arm and confronts the Master, who holds his family hostage.
