Engages in a leadership rivalry with John Locke, undergoes surgery on Ben Linus, escapes the island with the 'Oceanic Six,' and repeatedly attempts to return. Ultimately appointed as the island's new protector, kills the Man in Black, and dies peacefully after saving the island.
