The cunning leader of the island's malevolent inhabitants, 'The Others.' Suffers from cancer, undergoes surgery by Jack, and temporarily relocates the island. Manipulates and kills John Locke, but is ultimately forced to kill Jacob under the Smoke Monster's control, later assisting Hurley as the new protector.
