A powerful reserve deputy sheriff and cattle rancher who poses as a friendly benefactor to the Osage tribe. He orchestrates a ruthless conspiracy to murder wealthy Osage members, particularly Mollie's relatives, to seize their oil headrights. He manipulates Ernest into committing the crimes, orders bombings and poisonings, and controls local law enforcement.
