A forensic psychologist and Takabe's colleague who helps identify Mamiya as the common link among the killers. He researches the origins of Japanese mesmerism and theorizes the murders are ceremonial. He later begins unconsciously drawing Xs, experiences hallucinations of Takabe threatening him, and is found dead handcuffed to a pipe in his apartment.
