One of the two crew members awakened from hyper-sleep on SSS-17. He discovers a contaminated space probe, which triggers a violent confrontation with Kaplan. Infected by a biological agent that induces psychosis, he is temporarily cured by Kaplan. Ultimately, he chooses to remain on the damaged ship to destroy it and prevent the virus from reaching other survivors or rescuers.
