After a violent struggle with McNiel, she survives in a freezing cargo hold and deduces that the strange substance causes temporary psychosis at normal temperatures. She retrieves a cure from the ship's computer, treats McNiel, and helps coordinate a rescue before deciding to stay aboard the ship to sacrifice themselves and stop the virus.
