Successful Hollywood director recovering from heavy drinking. Travels to the desert, where he encounters and disarms a drifter named Jack. After crashing his jeep, he accidentally shoots a patrolling police officer and leaves Jack's rifle to frame him. He outwits Jack's blackmail attempt, confronts him in the desert, and kills Jack in a rigged Russian roulette game before reuniting with his daughter.
