Ethne Eustace is Harry's fiancée who initially supports his resignation. After discovering his burned telegrams, she mistakenly believes he fled duty out of cowardice, breaks their engagement, and issues him a white feather. She later agrees to marry the blinded Captain Durrance but eventually learns of Harry's secret rescues in Sudan. Realizing her error and Harry's true bravery, she reunites with him and accepts his returned white feather.
