Muriel's domineering and corrupt local politician father who constantly belittles his family. He is investigated for bribery, announces his intention to divorce his wife and marry his mistress Deidre, and treats Deidre as his date at Muriel's wedding. After losing his job, he asks Muriel to care for her siblings to secure his relationship, only to be firmly stood up.
