A naïve young woman who takes her deceased sister's place as the traveling companion of strongman Zampanò. She performs as a clown and musician, endures his abuse while developing affection for him, and eventually goes mad after witnessing his murder of Il Matto. She dies years later, remembered only for playing a trumpet melody.
