Ella's husband and a primary antagonist. He conspired with the butler and maid to murder Ella and forced her to sign a new will naming him sole beneficiary. He desperately searches the attic to destroy an original will that would disinherit him. After a heart attack induced by the cat Tabitha, he dies when the cat is released into his room, leaving the estate to his brother Edgar.
