A reservist and communications expert called up to command Baker Company despite initial unease. Though initially too cautious for his commander's taste, he adapts during combat. During the chaotic retreat, he leads a volunteer group into the hills to rescue wounded Marines, successfully retrieving McDermid and leading the survivors to coastal evacuation.
