A Roman senator and political rival of Crassus. He attempts to check Crassus' ambition by empowering Caesar and bribing pirates to exile Spartacus. Witnessing Rome's slide into tyranny, he takes his own life but ensures Spartacus' family escapes to freedom by bribing Batiatus.
