Doug is Abi's estranged husband and father to the three McLeod children. He travels to the Scottish Highlands with his family to attend his terminally ill father Gordie's 75th birthday despite their ongoing separation and recent divorce proceedings triggered by Doug's affair. He experiences rivalry with his brother Gavin, supports his children's unconventional tribute to Gordie during a press conference, and ultimately decides to amicably divorce Abi while reconciling with his kids.
