A scientist and close friend of Dorian and Basil. Initially, he examines Dorian's portrait and confirms the paint is chemically normal, helping Dorian hide it. Years later, he reconnects with Dorian, unaware of the supernatural secret. After Dorian corrupts his fiancée and murders Basil, Alan is consumed by despair and ultimately commits suicide via an overdose.
