The ruler of the kingdom and father of Prince Velen and his three daughters. He temporarily delegates governance to Velen but later disapproves of Velen's wish upon the Evening Star. After a quarrel regarding the retrieval of his daughters, he eventually permits Velen's marriage to the Evening Star.
