Founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. A painter and poet who initially rejects Lizzie, later marries her, and has affairs with Annie Miller and Jane Morris. After Lizzie's death from a laudanum overdose, he buries his unpublished poems in her grave. Exhuming them triggers chloral addiction and an obsession with Jane, leaving him isolated and cared for by Fanny.
