A handsome White Army Captain who rescues Countess Tatiana and Sergei from outlaws. He develops a romantic relationship with Tatiana while she recovers in the hospital. He returns later to rescue her during the Red offensive, initially threatening to execute Sergei but sparing him after Tatiana's testimony. He leaves Sergei as her protector and ultimately reunites with Tatiana at the story's conclusion.
