Initially indifferent to prom, he is forced by his principal to help Nova rebuild the decorations after a fire. Despite an early police encounter while sneaking into a neighboring school, he and Nova grow closer. After a temporary misunderstanding caused by family interference, a conversation with his mother convinces him to attend prom. He secretly fixes the broken fountain and successfully asks Nova to dance.
