A loyal servant who rescues Dagan during the castle siege and journeys to restore her to power. She reveals her past serving Dagan's family and carries out her late queen's dying wish to protect Dagan. Shulmay kills the traitorous advisor Leofwine, uses his body as a decoy, and later intervenes to save Dagan from execution. Despite moments of doubt and leaving temporarily, she returns, accepts the crown, and becomes the new queen.
