A Sikh soldier in the British Indian Army who leaves his comrades to protect a young Muslim woman, Naseem, after the Partition riots. He helps her hide, marries her, and they have a son named Vijay. Driven by love, he disguises himself as a Muslim to cross into Pakistan and rescue her. He is tragically killed on a railway track during a confrontation with Naseem's brother.
