The wheelchair-bound patriarch and Laura Belle's husband. He is hostile toward Pearl, calling her a "half-breed," and ostracizes Jesse. Before his wife dies, he admits his love for her. Later, he softens and reconciles with Jesse after learning his son will survive his gunshot.
