An ex-convict who attempts to steal a rare book. He dates Ruby Bruce, coerces her into blackmailing Harman by faking an assault, and threatens her to continue despite Harman's wife's death. Hart breaks into the shop basement, accidentally kills Ruby while hiding from Harman, conceals her body in a packing case, and attempts to murder Stella Tracy with a fire before being arrested.
