Alejandro's mother who sings instead of speaking. She believes their son is the reincarnation of her father and holds irrational but comforting views. She prays over her infected husband Jaime and miraculously cures him by urinating on him. Later, she teaches Alejandro to overcome his fear of darkness and become invisible. She sends a balloon with a stone to locate Jaime, whose amnesiac self is living nearby, and ultimately heals his paralyzed hands by revealing his ideological hypocrisy.
