A desert miner who, after being cheated by a gambler, kills him in a crime of passion and flees. He later ambushes the pursuing sheriff but nurses his wound back to health after learning the man shot in self-defense. Ultimately, he dies in a battle with hostile Apaches while protecting his former victim.
