A handsome Russian man who courts Dina and saves her horses from a barn fire. He is later revealed to be an anarchist sentenced to execution for plotting against the King. Dina risks her safety to visit him in prison, resulting in severe beatings and the loss of her unborn child. Though exonerated and released, he remains a transient, elusive figure in her life.
