A veteran petty officer who has served on the Yamato since its 1941 launch. He trains new cadets alongside Uchida and Karaki. During the final battle, he mans an AA battery with Kamio and Uchida after heavy casualties. As the ship sinks, he saves Kamio by tying him to a rescue boat, then chooses to drown himself rather than survive.
