A Petty Officer First Class and close friend of Kamio. He loses his left eye during the Battle of Leyte Gulf and recovers in a hospital. He escapes to rejoin the crew for Operation Ten-Go. During the Yamato's sinking, he and Moriwaki throw Kamio overboard to save him. He dies in the explosion, leaving behind a dagger given by Admiral Yamamoto and his ashes scattered at the wreck site.
