With Tatsumi now dead, Esdeath challenges Akame to a duel. Akame is forced to unleash her trump card by poisoning herself, thereby increasing her physical abilities. Eventually, Akame wounds Esdeath's left arm, and Esdeath cuts it off to prevent the poison from spreading through her body. Before Akame initiates the final strike, Esdeath uses her trump card to freeze time, but this does not stop Akame from dealing a fatal blow on Esdeath.
