The protagonist, falsely convicted of murdering her husband Nick. After six years in prison, she escapes parole supervision to track him down, discovering he faked his death to steal an insurance payout. Leveraging the Double Jeopardy Clause, she confronts him in New Orleans, ultimately killing him in self-defense after he attempts to bury her alive and attacks a police officer. She is later pardoned and reunited with her son.
