A parole officer assigned to supervise Libby after her release. After she steals his car and flees, he investigates her claims and uncovers Nick's true identity through a Kandinsky painting. Initially tempted by a bribe from Nick, he later records a confession and is shot and wounded by Nick during the final confrontation. He ultimately helps secure Libby's pardon and reunites her with her son.
