An old family friend and Japanese officer who initially accompanies Masugi. He hands his pistol to Masugi during the assault on Rosario. Later, he reveals Masugi's tragic backstory of losing his parents to Filipino violence. Francis assists Rosario in caring for the wounded Crispin and is killed during a guerrilla attack on their evacuation truck.
