Crispin's teacher girlfriend who remains in town during the Japanese occupation. She is raped by officer Masugi, becoming pregnant. Initially resistant, she eventually marries him and helps reform his character. After her family is killed by guerrillas, she shelters the wounded Crispin. She is later publicly shamed by townspeople, confronts guerrillas at the church, and dies. Crispin discovers her body and is entrusted with their child.
