An inexperienced Black lieutenant politically assigned to lead the robbery investigation. He opposes Mattelli's racist and brutal methods, refuses bribes from Doc Johnson, and uncovers police corruption. He ultimately tracks down Jim Harris, saves Mattelli's life, and delivers the fatal shot to end the chase.
