A celebrated nationalist poet whom Primo idolized and whose writings inspired Primo’s fascist ideology. Hidden in a cellar in Rocca Sabina, Baldacci is revealed to be alive and merely waiting for the fascist regime to collapse. Bonafè discovers him and secures his own temporary freedom by promising to assist in Baldacci’s future political rehabilitation.
