Cousin of Kolya Ustyuzhanin. Arrested by Kolya during the 1932 resource tapping plan, escapes, and kills him. Imprisoned, he returns to Yelan decades later as a bitter, frail man. He rejoices at Aleksei's death but learns that Taya is carrying Aleksei's child.
