A village singer who initially believes he is the famous poet Phillauri until Shashi reveals she is the true author. He dedicates his life to singing her poems to inspire social change. He records their songs in Amritsar, sends the earnings to her brother, and promises to return for their wedding. He is killed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on the day he was supposed to return, leaving their spirits to reunite in the afterlife.
