Shashi's elder brother and a respected village doctor who raised her. He discovers her secret poetry and romance with Roop Lal, initially intervening to stop it. After reading her poems, he appreciates her talent and eventually gives his blessing, preparing for the wedding after Roop Lal sends the recording fees.
